Boiler Room Prayer Meetings
Why "Boiler Room" Prayer Meetings?
Charles Spurgeon, the renowned 19th-century Baptist preacher at London's Metropolitan Tabernacle, attributed the explosive growth of his ministry, drawing crowds of up to 10,000 and leading thousands to Christ, not to his oratory skills but to the fervent intercessory prayers of his congregation. He famously referred to the church's basement prayer meetings, where hundreds gathered before and during services, as the "boiler room," likening it to the essential steam-powered engine that fueled the entire operation, and once told visiting ministers that without such prayers, he would cease preaching altogether.
We seek to capture that same spirit of prayer and faith that fueled Charles Spurgeon's ministry. Join us Sunday afternoons in a time of prayer for our church, our city, our nation, and our world.
